The Great Yankee Hove at THE DRINK
The Great Yankee Hove, a collective of folk events, will make its debut at THE DRINK on Sunday, June 26th in the early evening. We will start with a set of old-time music, featuring AJ on fiddle, banjo, clogging and vocals, the inimitable Tom Swafford on fiddle, Charlie Shaw on bass, and Liz Hampton on everything else. Then, we’ll have a Singalong! We will perform a collection of two-part, a cappella Drinking Songs, Sea Chanties, and English folk songs. Lyrics sheets will be provided. At the owners’ request, I will be calling a few Square Dances. Lastly, we’ll have an open folk jam.
Here’s a sample of this band that you should start checking out at the Drink in Williamsburg, Brooklyn starting on Sunday June 26th where you can get down with some fiddling, clogging, dancing and square-dancing!
And check out the rest of the pictures from this event.
A note from Ms. Alyson Greenfield, a female performer of note.

Watch: The New Pornographers Perform for “It Gets Better”
The Dan Savage-led “It Gets Better” Project has undoubtedly been one of the most uplifting and praiseworthy movements of 2010, recruiting an ongoing roster of potential role models that range from the president to Hollywood A-listers to Lady Gaga and many more to reach out and share their wisdom in the fight against teen suicide. Now the New Pornographers have filmed an exclusive performance of the apropos Challengers cut “Adventures in Solitude” for The New Gay at NYC’s Terminal 5. Watch their heartfelt rendition for this excellent cause above.
