poststarboy:

This is a really great guide to composing illustrations. What I found the most interesting are the constraints in which each example is presented; a comic panel/screen. In outlining Modular Comics 2.0, part of my goal was to promote effective use of panels to tell a story within the constraints of the smaller screen (mobile phone), that are then composed into a full page for tablet and print reading.

As comics continue towards digital distribution, creators should be mindful of guidelines such as this and Modular Comics 2.0 to create comics that work across mediums.

Yes! If only I could draw…

Just read this really great interview about the life of Frank Frazetta. A really wonderful and inspiring read for Frazetta fans, would-be artists, and aesthetes alike.

Robbi Rodriguez Gets Out of Control In A Great Way With Marvel, DC And ‘Doctor Who’ Illustrations [Art]
It took a special kind of artist to bring Stephen Colbert’s Tek Jansen to life, but Robbi Rodriguez is a special man. He’s got a brisk, Tim Sale-meets-Jim Mahfood lightness to his work that manages to give his subjects energy while simultaneously keeping design elements fresh and dramatic as needed.
